That all depends on what kind of company you’re looking for.
When it comes to designing a house, I’m sure one of the first places to come to mind is IKEA. But did you know that IKEA isn’t just a great place to buy your furniture and what have you, but they’re also eco friendly. They buy 50% of their wood from sustainable foresters and 100% of their cotton from cotton farms. These cotton farms meet the ‘Better Cotton’ standards so they use less water, energy and as little chemicals as possible. Most IKEA stores in my country also have solar panels powering the store.
IKEA stores are pretty big, so I’ll bet they have thousands of solar panels throughout my country, probably a few hundred thousand throughout the world. If I remember correctly, they also had a goal about being 100% powered by renewables by next year.
Another company I’m quite proud of is Unilever. They were actually given an award by the United Nations in 2015 for their efforts towards a sustainable production. Around three quarters of their nonhazardous waste doesn’t go to landfills and they’ve tripled the number of suppliers they have which use sustainable methods.
Panasonic is also doing pretty good. They’ve even moved their headquarters in order to reduce their carbon footprint by reducing the distance between their employees and their office.
